The 2058 Monarchs season will be another playoff season. The defending champions are returning to postseason play and looking to repeat as GBC champions. This season's club is very similar to last year as they have a .564 winning percentage and last year they was at .568. This years squad might not be quite as good offensively, but the pitching staff is improved over last year. I have complete confidence in my pitching staff this season GM Spencer says and I look forward to starting postseason play.
LETS LOOK AT THE TOP PITCHERS
Ielemia Faletose
The ace of the rotation Faletose has been a model SP all season, he is 12-4 with a 2.07 ERA. He currently leads the GBC in ERA, tied for 3rd place in wins, leads the league in pitching WAR, 5th in K's and leads all the GBC with a 196 ERA+ and closest guy to him is at 138. He is exactly the type of ace you want throwing a playoff game.
Michihiro Tanaka
If Faletose is the guy you want to start the game then Tanaka is the guy you want to close it out. He is 40/44 in save opportunities this season meaning the Monarchs only have to be winning after 8 innings and you can put on the board as a win. He has excellent control out of the pen walking 2.4 BB/9 while he has a 7.76 K/9 rate. As a reliever Tanaka won the GBC player of the month in May of 2058.
LETS LOOK AT THE TOP BATTERS
Brad Parkinson
In his final year of his contract Brad Parkinson has not disappointed. Ideally a DH but Parkinson has been forced to play about half the games in the field this season. He has a .257 AVG with 33 HR and 87 RBI. He has also hit 27 doubles, stolen 11 bags and has a 130 OPS+. He is a true cleanup hitter and is the backbone of the Monarchs offense. Just a couple weeks ago against Buenos he hit 3 HRS in a game while going 3 for 5 with 7 RBI and 3 runs scored.
Jae-Hyung
1B Jae-Hyung has had a solid season for the Monarchs. He has a .257 AVG with 24 HR and 68 RBI. He has also hit 29 doubles and has a 116 OPS+. In September CHI won the GBC player of the week as well. He bat will be much needed going into the playoffs. But we will be ready and we are excited for postseason baseball in 2058.
It will not be easy for the Monarchs as last sim defensive marvel Tyler Pavey sprained his knee and will be out for the season. He had a ZR rating of 17 in CF and you simply don't replace that. The Monarchs will have to figure out who will play CF for the playoffs the final week of the season. The likely opponent will be Cairo Pharaohs who currently sit at 84-71. GM Spencer said we will probably try to rest some guys get our rotation setup how we want it and also prevent additional injuries. Its never easy going into the playoffs teams suffer adversity just like we are with Pavey but its next man up ready to roll.

Tanaka looks like a Semih Gurani type starter. He is a free agent after this season unless you throw him some bones.

Nah, he signed an extension early on this season. He doesn't like money.
