The Spuds posted a 5-2 Sim #13 which allows the team, and fans, to exit the first half of the season on a high note. There were some close games and some, relative, blowouts so it should be fertile ground for Spuds to sprout.
Pitcher
SP Jeremy Nickerson
4 G, 4 GS, 3-1, 27.1 IP, 1.65 ERA, 0.95 WHIP, +0.5 WAR
The throne as "ace of the Spuds" having seemingly been abdicated by one Logan Hill, Nickerson has claimed it by force. Just in Sim #13, Nickerson, over 2 starts, tossed 13.1 innings allowing on 5 hits and 1 run while striking out 8. He did walk 7 hitters but he earned a good margin of error.
Batter
1B Bastião Fardos
73 G, 23 2B, 2 3B, 9 HR, 39 RBI, .289/.327/.500, 3 SB, +0.7 WAR
There were plenty of players who stood out offensively in Sim #13. SS Marcello Custello delivered 5 RBI and LF Héctor Hollowayposted 3 doubles and 3 RBI. But Fardos struck out a mere 6.2% of his plate appearance while drawing a walk 25% of the time. Even with so many walks, the slugger collected 2 doubles and a homerun with a stolen base and 3 RBI. He slashed .500/.625/.917 and scored twice.
