Regardless of how the season unfolds, no one will ever be able to erase the fact that we swept Las Vegas (ok, it was a 2-game series but let this team have a bit of sunshine). It really is interesting to watch a team with losses piling up actually having close games. That was the case this Sim with a 5-0 loss to Brooklyn offset by a 5-0 win over the Robins. With GM Ben Teague announcing that he is committed to a full rebuild, this season really does become a showcase for trade targets. Maybe some wins will come along as well.

@ Las Vegas 1-0 W
@ Las Vegas 7-5(11) W
As mentioned above, the Spuds sweep Vegas!! The opener was a pure gem of a game. Boise LF Eduardo Morales popped a HR in the first inning off Las Vegas starter Alex Payne and that turned out to be all the Spuds needed. A motley crew of P Bill Keefe, P Marvin 'Groucho' Winston, P Kent Johnson, and closer Harold Nothard held the Hustlers to 5 hits in a shutout. The next game was a great one as well, if on the other side of the spectrum. Boise jumped on Hustlers' starter Mahad 'Furball' Einan in the 1st inning scoring 2 runs and would come back around to tag him for 3 in the 5th. Meanwhile, the Spuds SP Héctor Fuentes gave up 3 in the 3rd and 2 more in the 5th to leave the game tied 5-5. It stayed that way until the 11th inning when Vegas reliever Carlos Berrera allowed a 2-run HR to Boise CF Lou Bayou.

@ Brooklyn 5-0 W
@ Brooklyn 7-11 L
@ Brooklyn 0-5 L
@ Brooklyn 2-4 L
The opener was a fun game for the Spuds but for viewers as well. Boise finally got to Robins starter Ken 'The Plainsman' Arroyo in the 6th off a sacrifice fly from 3B Robert Hooper scored 1B Bastião Fardos. It remained a close, 1-run affair until the top of the 9th when Boise erupted for 4 runs off Brooklyn closer Javier Hernández. Fardos provided the fireworks with a 3-run HR. In the 2nd game, both starters got ambushed in the 1st inning giving up 3 runs. But Brooklyn piled on in the 2nd scoring 6 runs of suddenly scuffling ace Logan Hill. The Spuds tried to mount a comeback with 3 runs in the 4th, but the game was too far out of reach by that point. In the 3rd affair, the Robins determined to answer Boise's series-opening 5-0 win with one of their own. Spuds SP Ed Noble made it to the 5th inning when he got mauled for 4 runs and the Spuds couldn't get a touch off Robins P Ollie Lowry who spun a complete game shutout allowing only 2 hits while fanning 12 Spuds. The finale was really not as close as the score would indicate. Brooklyn's Stephen 'Mr. Reliable' Clulow, Jr. was flawless allowing only 2 runs in the 9th. The Spuds had allowed a 4-0 deficit by that point with 2 of the runs given up by RP Noori bin Mu'awiyah.
