2055-0006: Talons Season Preview: The Pitchers (RP)

Post by jiminyhopkins » Fri Jun 02, 2023 9:58 pm

Daytona Beach, FL --

It's that time again. Time to eschew the 6 points for previewing another team and get 10 points for shotgunning out 5 TN's about our own. So let's look at the Talons' bullpen, eh?

Long Relief:
What do you do when you have a part-time DH making $12 million this year? Well, you let him pitch, of course! Don Jaramillo is nowhere near the pitcher he used to be before he hurt his shoulder in 2052. But maybe the club can get a few garbage innings out of him. Speaking of garbage, Jeff Locke will get to prove to the world that his potential 15 stuff rating really is a pipe dream. A crack-pipe dream.

Middle Relief:
Jorge Avila was claimed off waivers from Calgary late last season, and didn't really have time to improve on his performance. Maybe the Pioneers were on to something? Anyway, he heads up the middle relief corps and is joined by Neil Davies, another one of those arms that Phoenix signs, converts to a reliever, and tries to find a diamond in the rough. Instead, it's just been rough. And finally, we have Abdul-Qahar Nadeem, he of the otherworldly 20 potential stuff rating. And it all depends on his changeup peaking at 12. No sweat, right? Just ignore the fact he has no movement or control. 20 Stuff, you guys!!

Stoppers:
Siu-chung Zahn was one of the more consistent pitchers in the Talons pen last year, but that's not saying much. He had a great spring, however, so he becomes one of the "stoppers" by default, we guess. In addition, maybe this is the year that Jim Thompson finally does something with his life. I mean damn, with those ratings he should be a superstar. Maybe its the low Leader, Loyalty, Adaptability, and Work Ethic. Yeah, that must be it.

go talons!
