What about his defense? Isn't it good enough to ignore the platoon? Sure, he'll be sub 100 OPS+ wise, but if he's bring good or better defense, do you live with it and just move him down the lineup?Lane wrote:I'll search the MBBA CFs later, but this guy has a .713 OPS against EBA pitching this year. How often do you judge careers on 94 ABs?Lane wrote:I'll search the MBBA CFs later, but this guy has a .713 OPS against EBA pitching this year. He's absolutely a platoon bat in the MBBA.
I stand by the .650-.700 OPS v. LHBs in the MBBA and the fact that his glove and legs will be impossible to adequately replace with a platoon option.

I agree with the glove and legs part. Will be interesting to see if he improves against lefties his final 2 years in the EBA.agrudez wrote: How often do you judge careers on 94 ABs?

Ok, his EBA career OPS vs lefties is .718 in 278 PA.agrudez wrote:How often do you judge careers on 94 ABs?Lane wrote:I'll search the MBBA CFs later, but this guy has a .713 OPS against EBA pitching this year. He's absolutely a platoon bat in the MBBA.

I would be concerned that the CON vs lefties drops to 4 (a la Dubois) and he becomes a .500 OPS guy against lefties. I'm not saying that his glove and legs won't make up for it... Mostly just saying that he's not the second coming of Savage.

Sure it is. I wouldn't really call that kind of player a "star" though.bcslouck wrote:What about his defense? Isn't it good enough to ignore the platoon? Rodriguez actually looks like a pretty good comp for ratings v LHP. He's got a .776 career OPS v LHP.
So I will concede that it's possible that Lacaze can maintain a .700 OPS in the MBBA, but that's assuming no lumps.

I think that's reasonable. If he goes like you think he may, he's a solid MBBA player. Probably a Top 10 CF but in the 5-10 range. He he improves and gets better, he could be an All-Star. He is still only 22 as well so he probably still has some development to go.Lane wrote:Rodriguez actually looks like a pretty good comp for ratings v LHP. He's got a .776 career OPS v LHP.

So what competition level is the EBA? KBO like, better than the KBO but below the Japanese league? AAAA?

Agree.

Agree.
That's 3. I'll add Soriano, too - which would make him top 5.

I would argue that Salazar has proven that he can play CF and shouldn't be penalized in this exercise just because he's not primarily a CF right now.
Your disagreement on Thomas and Baez is defensible, but I respectfully disagree.

If this is the case, I want Roberto Petagine and Billy Ashley on my team! I would consider Tuffy Rhodes had he not been a cub...plus I can't get that opening day when the Reds played the cubs and Tuffy hit 3 HR's...guy was a monster that day...recte44 wrote:It's roughly AAA/AAAA
