Presents

A Seattle Storm Season Recap - 2000
Season Record: 77-85, 3rd Place, 34.5 games out of 1st

Top Batter
Image
CF Armando Santos
G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB K SB CS AVG OBP SLG OPS
139 569 122 197 45 11 15 69 82 62 80 31 .346 .434 .543 .977
Despite missing nearly a month of the season, Santos put up MVP caliber numbers, and looks to have cemented himself as THE go-to guy in this lineup

Expected to be the clear #1 to start the season, he pitched up and down all season. He signed a 4yr/$41.24 million contract early in the season after breaking off talks for several months. Should be the staff ace again in 2001.

CL Scott Piippo

Biggest Surprise

W L SV CG SHO ERA G GS IP HA R ER HR BB K WHIP OAVG BABIP
3 5 20 0 0 3.72 52 0 58.0 46 26 24 5 47 73 1.60 .221 .311
A converted starter, Piippo was just another rotation candidate to start the season, but after the sad news of Marvin Lewis career ending, the team needed to make a move to find a closer. Piippo was installed as the temporary solution, but pitched so well that a new closer was never acquired.

Biggest Disappointment

SP Joshua Noble
W L SV CG SHO ERA G GS IP HA R ER HR BB K WHIP OAVG BABIP
11 13 0 0 0 5.68 34 32 169.7 213 115 107 27 49 149 1.54 .310 .358
Expected to be one of the top starters in the rotation, he starts the season out as the #1, and for the first month, he pitches like it. However, after the first month, he posts a 7.02 ERA, and finishes the season pitching out of the bullpen. He will get every chance to turn things around in Spring Training, but he now has to earn his spot in the rotation, unlike this time last year when is was guaranteed.

Top Prospect
Image
SP Mike Williams
G GS W L SV ERA IP HA R ER HR BB K CG CG% SHO QS QS%
9 9 7 2 0 1.75 72.0 49 21 14 2 16 82 4 44.4 0 8 88.9
Once he hit the field in July, Mike Williams never looked back. He vaulted all the way to the top of the prospect list for the Seattle organization, and even managed to learn a new pitch as well. He has the potential to force his way into the Seattle rotation sooner rather than later.

Yeah, but I think the deal was good for the franchise.

Yes it was. Pitching for us has been horrid. We'll see this off-season.
