Presents

A Seattle Storm Monthly Recap - June 2000
April Record: 8-20

Top Batter

3B Jacinto Merino, Jr.
G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB K SB CS AVG OBP SLG OPS
27 109 21 35 4 0 8 28 7 21 0 1 .321 .356 .578 .934
One of the few batters that had a strong June, we was one of the few reasons that the month wasn't even worse off than it ended up.

Top Pitcher

CL Jeff Mathews
W L SV CG SHO ERA G GS IP HA R ER HR BB K WHIP OAVG BABIP
0 1 1 0 0 2.38 11 0 11.3 8 4 3 0 9 10 1.50 .216 .296
When your top pitcher for the month is a guy that only pitched 11.3 innings, it kinda says something. His 2.38 ERA was nearly 1/3 of the team ERA for the month. That team ERA number should go a long ways towards explaining the team record for the month.

Biggest Surprise

2B [http://baseballretrospective.com/MBBA/s ... er_id=3068]Augustine Herrero[/url]
G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB K SB CS AVG OBP SLG OPS
19 21 3 8 1 2 0 1 0 5 0 0 .381 .381 .619 1.000
Only on this list because he was the only other standout offensive player, and no P deserved the award. In limited playing time, he was a lone bright spot for the month.

Biggest Disappoinment

SP Russell Vanness
W L SV CG SHO ERA G GS IP HA R ER HR BB K WHIP OAVG BABIP
0 3 0 0 0 9.75 6 6 24.0 35 26 26 5 9 20 1.83 .354 .385
This was both a tough and an easy choice. It was tough because there were so many deserving cadidates, but easy because one name stood above the rest...Russell Vanness. After being the top SP the previous month, Russell regressed, and went the other way. The team needs him to figure it out, and soon.

Top Prospect
A peek at the top prospect in the organization over the full course of the season. The person listed here is the guy that the team feel will have the best impact on the biggest stage of all.

SP Curtis Bhatia
G GS W L SV ERA IP HA R ER HR BB K
6 6 5 0 0 1.42 50.2 42 9 8 0 6 50
After being overtaken last month, Curtis turned it up several notches and wins 5 of 6 starts during the month of June. When you throw 50.2 innings, and only walk 6, you are going to have success.
