Chenoweth Becomes a Free Agent

Robert Chenowith declined his $9 million player option and became a free agent today. The team expected the move and it was a factor when he was signed originally. The team knew that in 2056 Ollie Long would be ready and that either Chenoweth or Carlomaria Donadoni would be expendable.

Calgary got a bargain for the $19.3 million they paid their DH over the past 2 seasons. He hit .294, .871 OPS with 74 HR and 269 RBIs. This is exactly what you want out of a DH. He was also very durable leading the league in PA in 2054 and finishing 2nd this year. In addition he finished in the top 10 for TB, RBI, R, and SF both seasons.

“Robert did a great job for us and if he had chosen to stay we would have tried to find him the at bats,” GM Kevin Dickson said. “However, after the seasons he put up we figured there was no way he would hang around at the sale price of $9 million. We wish him the best and hope that he signs with a team in the Frick.”
