A quick rundown of the first sim:
Birmingham went 4-4 in Aaron Weiner's first sim despite not playing particularly well. Hayden Finch was blasted, the bullpen was pounded, regulars couldn't hit the broad side of a barn, and still the Bandits slipped away with four wins.
"We're lucky to be where we are right now - it could be a lot worse," said starting first baseman Chris Brown. "We've got to play better than this."
Manager Lou Brown took a more optimistic approach to the Bandits' season start.
"Sometimes you gotta win ugly, which is a whole lot better than losing well," said Brown. "We're not trying to compete here. We're trying to win. Four and four isn't bad for a start."
Other news: Medric Wood lost his 20-game hitting streak. Newcomer Rob Dibble paid immediate dividends, allowing no runs and saving three games in four appearances. No injuries, no major transactions and a lot of happiness throughout.
