The San Antonio Outlaws will be bringing RF Sebastian “Nino” Fradesso back for the 2057 season after the veteran met the 490 plate appearance vesting option for the 2nd year of his 2 year/$6.78M deal signed last offseason.
The right fielder will be playing his 17th big league season next year and was a solid contributer for the Outlaws in his first season with the club. He played 148 games in right field and appeared in 154 overall. He carried a slash line of .265/28/95 and was generally rated as the Outlaw's 3rd best offensive performer after Big Papi and Strolz. Nino’s 28 homers were in line with his power production in the late 40’s and early 50’s when he played with Chicago and New Orleans. His .265 average was right in line with his career average of .268 after having a few sub-par seasons the last few years. He hit lefties slightly better than righties (.291 vs .254) which was quite valuable on a team with minimal production against southpaws. Overall he had a great season in his first as an Outlaw.
The team has projected Nino into the middle of the order going into 2057 and will be trying to hold down right field as his range slips. His glove is still solid so we are hopeful that his bat will more than make up for his shortcomings in the field. If things get worse he will likely grab some time at DH against lefties and get some spot starts against righties. The vet is popular with the fans and has great intangibles so he will help the team next year in minors ways if nothing else.
