Omaha/Dooley agree on potential retirement contract.(2055.06)
The Omaha front office briefly mentioned it a few days ago, and now the deal is official.
Cyclone Fans, Timo Dooley will likely retire an Omaha Cyclone.
The 35-year-old, who’s career attributes were just mentioned here, has agreed to an extension that will take effect after the 2056 season. An extension that start when Dooley is 37 years old. Now before you go into cardiac shock, know that Dooley, who is set to make $16,000,000 each of the next two seasons, accepted a deal for a much lower compensation.
The 4-year extension, beginning in 2057, will pay Dooley a grand total of $5,700,000. Beginning in 2057, he will earn $1,600,000(10% of his current salary). For both 2058 and 2059, Dooley will take home $1,400,000. In 2060, at age 40, Dooley finishes with $1,300,000.
Not that it is needed, but the deal does provide security for Dooley as it has a full no trade clause included.
If I was a betting man, I am guessing that despite Dooley’s 4.14 ERA this past year, by the time this extension begins in 2057, he will find himself in the bullpen and an even smaller shine of what he once was as his K/9 continue to decline. For now, it appears Dooley is set to begin once again in the rotation, where he will look to pick up win #200 this year.

One suspects Dooley will be turning into a pitching coach whenever retirement hits.
