57.24 Blazers Clinch Playoff Berth

The champagne was flowing in the Blazers' locker room as the team celebrated its return to the playoffs. This will be the club's fourth trip to the postseason in the last six seasons, after missing the playoffs last year. Only five players remain from their last playoff roster: Infielders Lineu Aldo (currently on the IL but scheduled to return before the playoffs), Eduardo Gonzalez, and Miguel Martinez and relief pitchers Max Birstall and Bill McIntosh.

All Star third baseman Eduardo Gonzalez said that this celebration felt premature. "Obviously, we are pleased to clinch a wild card berth. But in Spring Training, we set our sights on winning the division, and that hasn't changed. It's been 11 years since we hung a division championship banner. We want to hang another one!"

Montreal has eleven games remaining, all at home in Ubisoft Field. They are chasing Charm City, who has seven road games among their last eleven. The Blazers hope that this will give them an advantage in the pennant race, but they are four games back and Charm City owns the tiebreaker.
