"Sir have you read this article from Portland?" asked my assistant GM.
"Yes, yes I have, have to say I'm not surprised, Portland doesn't have much to celebrate anymore."
I haven't had time to keep up with the league for the past week, been fighting this shitty flu that has finally devolved into just a cough that won't go away. But now I'm back and ready to read and respond, and boy did one article catch my attention with just the headline alone.
Portland's GM for lack of a better word, has gotten more cocky this season. I mean he wrote what, 6 articles all of 2056? All while battling Seattle to not be last in the Pacific. Sure was very quiet then. Now he's basically saying fuck Vancouver every other day because he finally won more than one game against our team. I guess I should just let him have this one.
"To be honest he has gotten better, this entire division has. I've got to stay focused on winning. He can stay focused on this 'rivalry' all he wants. It's still a long season."
I've had a busy start to this season, once again our damn infield got ravaged with injuries, but I was definetly more prepared for that this year, and Reynaldo Serrano has looked good to start his BBA career, perhaps he's earned a permanent call-up when Minhas and Williams both return from injury. Of course I was also extremely happy to work out a contract with Phil Cole, with his stamina and that knuckleball he should continue to hold down our rotation the next 5 years easy. We're in a battle for the top of the division again, I'm honestly really happy with how I've taken over this team.
Of course it's still early and anything can happen, so I can't get too laid back and arrogant like some GM's around here, I don't want to suffer the same fate of my first season. In terms of my plans I don't have much. I don't think I'll be active in trade talks this year unless something blows me away or the team utterly collapses.
The locker room is tighter than ever and my first manager hire, Aurelien Gurien, has done a great job at getting all the pieces to work together. He's been, in my humble opinion, a great hire for the team.
"Anyways I think I've come up with a perfect response for him."
"I thought you weren't focused on that sir?"
"Of course not, this is a complimentary letter, no malicious intent here."
Dear City of Portland,
U have 'earned' our cities respect.
Portland has finally has a .500 season to be proud of.
You have shown you can mediocrely run a baseball team
Or you know, maybe not.
Understand this was not easy to write.
Really hope we can continue our amazing battle.
Sincerely, Vancouver
2057-4 Well F*ck you too Portland

This represents the third use of the word "mediocrely" in a sentence on this forum.
The second was by shoeless.
The first ...
I think investigation is needed.

Dang how did I miss this TN.
Very well done my good sir. Games at the Outhouse, er uh, I mean the Outpost should be interesting this year.
