The Tropics hit the road again for yet another three-game trip. This time the stop is in Vancouver for a series against the Mounties.

Game 1- The Vancouver Mounties continue their march to the playoffs as they end Hawaii’s four-game winning streak. Hawaii rookie reliever Bill Williams made his 1st BBA appearance and gave up three runs on four hits and a couple of walks in two innings of work. He struck out a batter as he is tagged with his1st loss of his career. He is 0-1 with a 13.50 ERA.

Trops DH Adam Backhouse had a two homer day for Hawaii. He was 2 for 4 with a solo blast in 3rd inning and another solo homer in the 8th. Mitch Wareham was 1 for 3 with a walk and an two-run homer.



Vancouver wins 6-4.

Game 2- The Tropics bounce back with a nice, combined pitching performance from the staff. Semih Gurani pitched 4.2 scoreless innings for Hawaii giving up four hits with a K. Troy ‘Teddy Bear’ Reynolds pitched 2.2 scoreless innings giving up just two hits as he improved to 11-5 with a 3.43 ERA. Utkan Gocek earned his 5th save after allowing a solo homer with a strikeout in 1.2 innings of relief.

Hawaii 2B Adhyapayana Mehta singled, doubled in a run and scored a run. Mitch Wareham was 0 for 3 but had a RBI sac fly.



Hawaii wins 2-1.

Game 3- The Tropics lineup was baffled by Vancouver knuckleballer Phil Cole as the Mounties get the series win. Cole held the Trops to two runs on solo homers by Adam Backhouse and Russ McHaney. McHaney’s homer in the 9th finally chased Cole from the game.

Hawaii starter Ricardo Tapia pitched 3.1 innings allowing a run on four hits and a walk. He struck out a batter in the no decision. Phil Thompson took the loss in relief after giving up three runs on three hits and three walksin just 2/3 of an inning. He falls to 7-9 with a 4.07 ERA. Bill Williams made another appearance in the series and performed better. He pitched two scoreless innings while issuing a walk and fanning two batters.



Vancouver wins 5-2.



The Mounties win the series 2-1.
