Re: Development Lab Results #2
Comments:
1B John Harris was sent to the lab to work on his plate discipline. He made several adjustments to his stance but still doesn’t see the ball as well as he can. There shouldn’t be any loss of skill in his development but there was no improvement either. Stats+ reflect that he has had an improvement in is AvK in recent days while his GAP has also bumped. OSA and coaches don’t know if these are results of the training, but they do run counter to the results of the devlab.
RP Eugene Belesis concluded his efforts to improve his changeup. He struggled with the grip and the arm action resulting not keeping the pitch tunneled with is fastball. He tired easily during training and may have his stamina reduced in coming seasons. Nothing in Sats+.
RP Harry Edwards on the other hand had an Outstanding result in his curveball. Coaches are raving about his break and depth of the pitch. The pitch should keep hitters off balance next season. Stats+ reflects his curveball improvement and some improvement in Stuff vs Lefties.
LF Vicente Martinez was sent to the devlab to work on his plate discipline. He efforted to work on his approach at the plate along with a pre-game planning routine. He wasn’t as receptive as was expected and didn’t show any improvement. Nothing on Stats+.
RP Ho-Jun yi has had some Outstanding results in his devlab that resulted in fantastic improvements in his cutter. Coaches and scouts agree that this improvement will make him more effective against righties and lefties. Stats+ reflects bumps in his stuff against batters from both sides of the plate and his cutter rating.
SP Curt Bott also had Outstanding success in secondary pitch development. His sinker has improved to the point that he can get some use of it. Bullpen catchers at the facility raved about the heaviness of his sinker. He’s gonna break some bats. Stats+ hasn’t seen any increase in anything but his weight. Maybe he’s eating too well in camp.
