Hawaii Tropics first baseman Luis Estrada and left fielder Vincente Mendez receive their first Frick League Yogi Zimmer Diamond Gold Gloves.
Estrada had extended playing time at first since the 2056 season at New Orleans. He played 1188.1 innings in 131 games with a 4.3 ZR while committing just 3 errors. He had 70 assists and was involved in 99 double plays. Estrada received 25 of 31 votes to take home the Diamond Glove.
Mendez capped off his fantastic 2058 season with a Diamond Glove in left. He played 1171.2 inning in his 131 starts in left field with 301 put outs in 310 chances while committing five errors. He threw out 4 baserunners and was involved in 3 double plays while posting a 7.7 ZR. He received 21 of 31 votes to win his first award.
Hawaii GM Jim Walker said, “It’s been since 2052 when we had two players receive Diamond Gloves. Strangely, Adhyapayana Mehta received a vote. I didn’t vote for him.”
