Minor League Catcher Catches Fire

Hollywood (A-Ball) catcher Utbah Utbah went 2-3 today with a pair of walks, but fans left Hollywood Park oddly disappointed because the young backstop did not hit a homer as he had done three of five previous games.
Perhaps part of it is that the fans have taken a particular joy to watching Utbah play, many rallying around his at-bats and yelling “Utbah! Utbah! Utbah!” as he hits.
“It’s a lot of fun,” said Mandy Minnimen, a local high school cheerleader who has taken it upon herself to create the first, and one assumes only, Utbah Utbah fan club. “And it’s healthy, too! Deep breaths and loud exhalations are good for the circulation. And when we get the line dance going, that adds in cardio. I mean, you really can’t beat it.”
Her fan club co-president, Katie Kulari agreed. “Everyone here is rooting for him to bump big time and make the Brewster. There’s no doubt he’d be huge. Utbah Utbah!”
Until catching the zeitgeist here in Hollywood, Utbah has been a pretty low key kind of player, and despite a decent rookie ball season two years ago was not considered much of a prospect. But three homers in six games and a rowdy fan base turns eyes. Or, if nothing else it serves as the only time I might get to make a TN out of the kid for purposes that actually come from the field!
Aside – no word on whether three homers has tempted him to change his name to Utbah Utbah Utbah.
