Talon Talk 96.2

Well the Talons finally broke the .500 mark on the season. We are currently 38-35. That's goo for second place, 2.5 games behind the BlackSox. The real highlight this year has been the outstanding play of RF Joe Belinda. Belinda has been owning pitchers so far this year hitting .334 with a league leading 29HR's and 89RBI's. Joe is an early favorite for the Silver Slugger if he can keep this pace up.

Belinda's battery mate on the other side of the outfield has been having himself a hell of a year as well. LF George Peralta is hitting .355 with 16 HR's and 50 RBI's. Peralta and other teammates have been doing a good job of getting on base for Belinda. A nice surprise this year has been the emergence of young catcher Theo Epstein. Epstein is hitting .333 with 7 HR's 36 RBI's. With Epstein doing well, the Talons have been trying to move veteran catcher Sterling Wong. Wong is hitting .291 in his back up role. He definatly would be happier in a fulltime catching role.

On the other side of the ball is where the Talons have been trying to do some work. There hasn't been to many positive's. Talon ace Emile Yost has a record of 10-5 with a 4.40 ERA. Our starters ERA has gradually been coming down since a terrible beginning of the season. Not quit fast enough though, top brass would like to make a move for a pitcher before the deadline. David Chappel has been throwing the ball this year, being the only Talon starter with an ERA under 4. With his 3.82 ERA he hasn't gotten the decisions to go his way. His record is a meager 4-6. The rest of the season will hopefully bring some better luck for Chappel.

The Talons feel the only way to take their division will be to add a pitcher so lets make it happen.
