2056.03 BREAKING: Collins Calls Out His Replacement, Confirms McMonigal Mismanages Team
BREAKING: Collins Calls Out His Replacement, Confirms McMonigal Mismanages Team
By Edwin Wardman, for the Yellow Springs Journal
November 6, 2056
Yellow Springs, OH – What I've known for years now is confirmed by one of the most esteemed figures in Yellow Springs history as Ron Collins' private comments to current GM Rob McMonigal were revealed in a tell all interview with Boise Spuds General Manager, Joe Lederer.
While inexplicably spending a long period of time comparing Collins, now General Manager of the Johnson League Champion (and that's all that matters!) Sacremento Mad Popes, and former failed Presidential Candidate (but later Secretary-General of the United Nations) Taylor Swift, Lederer let slip that Collins has been privately messaging his anger at McMonigal's management of the team.
The quote in question: "But maybe this thing was a masterpiece 'til you tore it all up," which Collins allegedly told McMonigal via a private channel only for BBA General Managers. Lederer claimed, "I can’t reveal my sources, but someone hacked the Discord and passed this onto me."
Sure.
He later added, "True story!" How does the Boise GM know that unless he was behind the hack?
We all know this is gamesmanship for Lederer, trying to get under the skin of the two Frick General Managers. His "leak" is currently being picked up nationally, even on shows not related to baseball. Mentioning Swift will do that. It might even lead to some extra merchandising for his team or perhaps a few extra visitors to home games. The Spuds might even do a Tay Tay Tator Tots Night or something.
But the real point here is that Collins isn't afraid to speak the truth I've been trying to convince everyone: McMonigal is not very good at his job. And he did it in the most direct way possible, by confronting the new, over-his-head GM directly, presumably as part of his opening salvo upon returning to the ranks of BBA general managers.
I reached out to Collins about the controversy. Here's his reply, edited for length:
"Well, you see Edwin, my data here is only partial. However, I put together several data aggregators and they strongly suggest a potential correlation between the time McMonigal took over and the increase in losses for the Yellow Springs Nine."
I was then presented with 17 graphs, 2 pie charts, a long history about the probability of winning a one-run game if the range of your right fielder defensive replacement is inserted on a Wednesday, and a link to a Kickstarter campaign.
I won't share those here, because I think this stat speaks for itself:
2052 75-87
2053 69-93
2054 60-102
2055 61-101
Put simply: McMonigal just isn't very good. For owner Bo Jordan, "the saddest fear comes creeping in" as I'm sure he's coming to realize the mistake he made in plucking McMonigal from the Monarchs, who it might be added, won their GBC Championship in 2054, 2 years after McMonigal departed. The sooner Jordan gets rid of him the better.
McMonigal wouldn't comment on this story. To him I say, "I knew you were trouble."

Solid writeup, job well done. I thought about writing a witty lyrical response but then you mentioned search history.

Sometimes these things just write themselves, right? Dunno. Maybe anyway.
