The Wisconsin Wire 2.2 - Wolves Climb Out from the Basement

Post by elligator » Thu Aug 12, 2010 2:58 pm

Despite yet another losing sim, Madison leapfrogged Omaha (or, more accurately, dodged out of the way as Omaha free-falled) to take over 3rd place in the Johnson League Midwest.

News from the Sim:
With September here and the AAA Saints involved in the playoffs, the Wolves called up a couple of AA Rockford players: SP Leon Severt and INF Olmedo Saenz. Severt did a reverse split between AAA and AA, moving down due to the pitching logjam in Nashville. Severt will get a couple of starts as September winds to a close. Most scouts think he doesn't have what it takes to make a big league staff, so this may be Severt's cup of coffee. As for Saenz, there was a lot of hype when he defected from the MLB, but he watched his career go down the tubes in the minors.

AAA Nashville Saints are in the AAA Final Series against the Washington Senators. Washington got some phenomenal pitching and shut down the powerhouse Saints offense in the first two games of the series en route to establishing a 2-0 lead. Nashville was easily the best regular season team, but they've dug themselves a hole to climb out of if they are going to turn it around.

The Goat shuffled the rotation a bit for the final month: Phenom Justin Marco stumbled hard in August and reached his innings limit for his first pro season, and the team has made him the closer to finish out the season. John Davis will move into the final spot of the rotation. Waiver claim Pisith Beng, having a dreadful season out of the pen, was moved into the rotation where he went 2-0 with an ERA under 3 in his first two starts, including 8 innings of 1-hit shutout ball against the Phoenix Talons on September 2.

Just noticed that your TN names went from 'Wyoming Wire' to 'Wisconsin Wire'? Did you relocate? :headscratch:

Apparently his team is in exact diametric opposition to where he lives.

Besides, I thought we were always talking about Madison, Wisconsin.
