Dear Fergie,

Yo, bro! I participated in one of them spring training live breaks they do on the viz and I had a few credits and I thought of you so I bought Chicago for one of the last boxes. It's amazing how cheap some of the teams go for right now, considering all the subsets they throw in. I've been chasing the Constellation Set this year something mad. Got squat but I had my best pull of the year: a signed Melucci.

This is from the Ocha Throwback Series. I remember Melucci from his time on my Jimmies but I figure you'd appreciate it much more than me. They called him Sloth because he absolutely could not run. Whenever he got a hit to the right, the RF always had a good shot of throwing him out at first.

I actually thought he retired but did you know that he played over in Tokyo in one of them independent leagues last year? Apparently he got into some trouble or something down in New Bayou and nobody signed him. He's a good slugger but he strikes out way too often for me. Anyway, he's back and he's on your team!!! Which I'm sure is old news to you.

I pulled a few more Chicago cards that I sent to the organization to get signed. Sometimes they'll do that if you do the old snail mail and not ask to sign tons of stuff and if you include a paid envelope with your address and a nice short letter and what not. I pulled cards for some guy named Ayyad Faisal, Jeremy Starks, your closer (ha!) Mike Baker, and ... Dirk Bessi!!! - so here's hoping. Bessi keeps getting better each year. Would love love love to have a signed card from him. Fingers crossed.

Still waiting on a Tatlock, though. TNT!!! He's a real throwback. I thought he'd be one of those guys to stay with one team throughout his whole entire career. Best catcher in the league so I hope he stays healthy for you guys. I'm surprised he signed with the Sox - thought he'd try to chase another championship - but I guess money's money.

Anyway, Melucci was the best pull of the day for me. Actually, best pull of the winter, and I've done a few of those live breaks already. Bodes well for me this season. For real I was tempted to sell it back - they do that after the stream finishes - but I earmarked the Chicago pulls for you plus this would be good for your collection, especially if there is some kind of Black Sox resurgence with their new GM. At any rate, the card should stay in the family!

--

I wrote that a few days ago and I just saw that Melucci got injured!!!??? Sorry, bro. Shame, too. He was hitting great for your Sox. Knee injury. As if the guy's legs weren't already wrecked. They say 6 months so his season is lost. That probably craters the value of the card. Still, I'd hold onto it and maybe sell the NFT? That Rookie Bodine I got you last year, though, is only going to increase in value. Do you still have it? I can't remember if you sold it or not. Didja? It's all good either way.

Love and baseball,

Jenks

PS. I pulled a Tatlock on a whim purchase at Sell Goods! I'll send you a dupe if I pull him again - I'm almost done collecting the series and then it's 100% speculating.

PPS. Also scored a rookie Kazantziakis from BriCap! He also showed me some pretty cool baseball action figures from K-Toy. Bizarro stuff. Some go for silly sums. But most are trash. But needless to say: I'm so set for Christmas with the fam. If Umberto's still into F1 I have something that'll blow his mind.

PPS. Give love to Pappap. Tell him I'll take the over on games won by the Black Sox. Whatever New Bayou sets it at the beginning of the season. See you in May.

Gotta live Fergie and Jenks from Chicago. Probably friends with Billie and Williams.

I think everything Renato does is a Caleca nominee.

Thanks for the replies! Cubs pitcher Fergie Jenkins was definitely the inspiration for the names of the brothers - and not because I'm a Cubs fan (far far far far from it !!!) - but apart from really liking his name and the story of his career and life, the 1971 Topps card I used as a model for the Ocha (a nod to Oscar Charleston) Throwback Series happened to be one of Fergie Jenkins.
