Brooklyn State of Mind: How is Prieto Doing? (2055.5)

Post by lordtoffee » Tue Jul 04, 2023 12:03 am

While the Robins are continuing to go through a season that has shown that major changes are going to be made on the pitching front, the status of 2054 first overall pick Wilson Prieto has been a topic of conversation. At the start of 2055, the decision was made that Prieto would start the year off at AAA San Francisco. The thinking for the front office was that Prieto would benefit from getting regular playing time with the Doves, and that since the Robins signed outfielders, that it would be a wait and see mode. Prieto has shown that the decision has been great for his development, and the Robins offense has been playing well if you look at the statistics.

Prieto was named to the AAA All Star Game, and he has looked very comfortable at that level. He has been getting on base fairly consistently, has been hitting for power, and his defense has shown some improvement, though he is likely to be getting more time in the outfield when he arrives at the major league level. There are some who are wondering why the Robins didn't give him a call after Leyte went down with an injury? The answer was simple. Joe Powell had played to a similar level, and the thought was that the Robins would want to take a look at him, and Powell did a good job. With the Robins looking like some salary will come off the books, that means that Prieto is in good position to get the call for 2056 and be in a strong position to push the Robins forward.

Prieto is looking good! He's going to be a nice super-utility player for a long time to come.

He’s going to be a very interesting player to use, though I do like him in the outfield more based on how his defense ratings and stats look.
