Re: Rocky Mountain/Yellow Springs
This trade is kinda interesting. Really high risk on both ends.
Plante is the #9 prospect in the BBA, looks like he'll be a bust, but did have what could be a turnaround season in 2052. Without looking, I'd image YS9 has great MiL coaches and a lot of leadership that could help mold him?
Hernadez is obviously a great pitcher who is just 27. While not injury prone, he is currently suffering an 8 month set back. Usually a 2nd set back is the kiss of death. He is also a free agent after the season. I'd gather a lot of the value in this deal is signing him to a cheap extension while he is hurt. But again, that comes with a high risk.

Re: Rocky Mountain/Yellow Springs
At first glance I thought this was a mega steal for @GoldenOne. Then looked at it and was surprised that Hernandez is due to be a free agent making it a decent risk for @Trebro. Swear Hernandez just emerged a couple seasons ago, but I guess I was wrong.

Re: Rocky Mountain/Yellow Springs
This is definitely a high-risk trade, which is unusual for me. The fact that Hernandez had the setback AND was headed to free agency AND I have both Newsome and Morin ready to go was enough for me to part with him in exchange for a guy who hasn't lived up to his hype but is still young enough to get there.
The final nail in the coffin for Hernandez was that, without providing trade secrets, his request to re-sign was...not one I'd ever entertain without knowing he's healthy.
I wasn't shopping him, but when the opportunity presented itself, I saw two options:
1) Do the trade, get value back for a player I'm not looking to keep.
2) Don't do the trade, he craters off the injury, and I get nothing OR he plays well and his ask is even more than I was willing to pay in the first place.
I definitely "lose" the trade in the short term, and might in the long term if Plante never gets better. We'll have to see.

Re: Rocky Mountain/Yellow Springs
I 100% agree with the logic on moving him and the risk that Rocky Mountain is taking in acquiring him. I just wouldn't have taken Plante.Trebro wrote: ↑Mon Nov 21, 2022 7:29 pmThis is definitely a high-risk trade, which is unusual for me.
