For the fortieth straight season I can't open a message, so accept on Kondo.

I deleted all my emails a few sims ago, like 2300 or something, and it helped on my side. The email screen allows you to click the button next to "subject" to select all emails and then delete them all with the button on the delete message button on the right. Highly recommend it.

yeah, that's what the issue is @aaronweiner. I processed your option decision and deleted your 30,993 emails that were causing your inbox to lag.
