The Walkoff Watch 2058: Sims 6 & 7

Don’t mind me…

First a programming note: due to Sims being reduced from 10 games (in the olden days) to 7 it seems there’s not enough action in just one, so the Walkoff Watch will be published 2 Sims per edition. There was some wild action in the beginning of May and Sims 6 & 7. Most of it bad for the teams/players which makes us here at The Watch very happy!! Not that we would wish ill upon anyone. Hehe…

The Walkoff Watch Terminology

balkoff When a pitcher balks in the winning run.
derpoff When a pitcher walks in the winning run, hits a batter with the bases full, or the winning run scores due to a wild pitch or error.
200-proof walkoff When the home team scores in the bottom of a previous inning to extend the game and then scores with a walkoff in a subsequent inning.
pimpoff When the home team scores a walkoff following the visiting team tying the game to cause extra innings (or more extra innings) or scoring what would have been the winning run if the home team hadn’t responded.

April Team and Player Highlights
There were some wild happenings in Sims 5 & 6:
- Madison? Ouch. It’s not so much that the Wolves surrendered walkoffs on two consecutive nights to the same team. That’s pretty
commonplace. But it was off the same pitcher (Wesley Turner), by the same hitter (Scott Torres), and in the same manner vs Louisville on the
15th and 16th
- Over in Atlantic City on the 13th Charm City scored 3 runs in the top of the 14th inning of a tie game…then promptly surrendered 4 in the
bottom of the frame to take the L. This was also the first walkoff decision for Charm City, so welcome to the party, Jimmies!
- On the 15th Rockville entered the bottom of the 9th with a 4-run lead over the Crawdads, and allowed 5 runs. The Pikemen mixed in an error,
wild pitch, and 2 walks…which we would actually kind of expect in a 5-run inning.
- On the 19th, the other side of the coin sees Sacramento and Nashville knotted at 1-1 going into the 15th and the Popes giving up 5 runs in the
top of the frame to take the 6-1 loss.

- Hold up…Madison has a 4-11 record in 1-run games while Bikini sports a 3-10 line?! And Nashville is 12-5 in such games. Wow!
- Rockville (2-4) saw 3 walkoff affairs in this edition and were on the losing end of all 3. Congrats, Pikemen! The others exposed to 3 decisions were Louisville (4-1), who won 2 of the 3, and Twin City (2-2) who went 2-1.
- Montreal (5-1) and Des Moines (2-2) both split a pair of walkoffs while Madison (0-4) and Yellow Springs (0-3) each dropped 2. Mexico City (3-2), New Orleans (3-2), Rocky Mountain (3-1), Atlantic City (1-2), and San Antonio (1-3) went 1-1.
- Louisville’s Scott Torres crashes the Atlas party with the 2 walkoffs mentioned above while New Orleans’ Zenobius Kazantziakis had his 2nd victory party to make it a 3-way tie for the hardware.
- Oh, and Madison’s Wesley Turner? The two walkoffs mentioned above were his 3rd and 4th seeing him put some distance ahead of 2nd place in the Goat chase. Rockville’s David Wade and Twin Cities’ Patrick Rosales each gave up their first 2 losses and Boise’s Knox Sked surrendered his 2nd on the year to join the pack behind Turner. Rosales allowed each of his 2 via a bases-loaded walk.
