A user, Chuck Valenches, has applied with the following information using the application form.
Real name: Chuck Valenches
IP: 207.89.41.82
Email: chuckvalenches@gmail.com
Applying for: New Applicant
Reason for applying:
I have played OOTP since the early 2000s (4 or 5). I have a background in professional baseball as a play by play broadcaster in the minor leagues with
Kane County Cougars (1992, Intern) A Midwest League- Orioles
High Desert Mavericks (1993-1995) A California League - Marlins, Orioles
Jacksonville Suns (1996-1997) AA Southern League - Tigers
Nashville Sounds (1998-2009) AAA Pacific Coast League - Pirates, Brewers

I have also contributed to Baseball Prospectus and enjoy writing articles. I belong to one other online league (PEBA) also a fictional league. I am willing to contribute in any way I can and would very much enjoy being a part of a league with such participation as the Brewster Baseball League.
First/Last Name: Chuck Valenches
City/State/Country: Lakewood, OH
Email Address: chuckvalenches@gmail.com
OOTP Forums Username: zippykat
Desired Forum Username: It will be Chuck V to start and will then change to Chuck (whatever the team name is)
Date of Birth (MM/DD/YY) for in-game purposes: 08/23/1966
Occupation: Manufacturing Consultant
Other OOTP Leagues (with links): PEBA pebabaseball.com
Have you read the BBA Constitution and agree to abide by its rules?: Yes
Do you own the current version of OOTP, and plan to buy all future versions?: Yes
Do you understand the Participation Point System, and agree to be a regular contributor to our community?: Yes
What interests you about the BBA?: The involvement of the owners including the media guides, articles, strong history and the league setup
Describe your GM style: I do like to take a team at the bottom and rebuild it it through the draft, waiver claims. I pay special attention to the team structure with good coaches up and down the ladder, development strong managers and a good scouting director (though it looks like they will not be needed in this league). At the same time I do not like to tank and tear it down to the studs as it will kill the budget and fan interest rendering me unable to re sign or add to the roster I’ve built.
Have you ever answered to the alias "Al Hoot"? (a little BBA inside joke!): Not under oath.
Tell us more about yourself: Former minor league play by play broadcaster in the minor leagues who still loves the game and baseball computer sims. I even was the color commentator voice on the last two versions of High Heat Baseball for Nintendo 2 and the original X Box.
How did you hear about the BBA?: Saw the post on the OOTP forum.

Didn't realize how good you were when I PMed you. Not sure I want you around these parts. Send him to GBC or Johnson League. We don't want him in the Frick League!

Thank you all for the nice welcome. I look forward to competing with you all and eventually dealing for all your prospects in exchange for my aging expensive veterans. I will be on Discord and the forums as often as I can so I can complain how the game just blew out my starters elbow.

Not exactly which GBC team I am getting yet, but I'll be diving in as soon as I know. League file is downloaded, so are the images. I'm ready to go!

A few years before I left baseball somebody put together wiki pages for about six broadcasters in the PCL. I’m not sure who or why.

Yep. Dave O’Brien was the play by play and I was the color commentator. It was a lot of fun too.

I was there the first time the Sounds were the Brewers affiliate. They were one of my favorite teams even before I worked in baseball. Huge fan of the 1978 Brewers, Harvey’s Wallbangers.

That was me. Dave o’Brien (then of the Marlins and Red Sox) was the play by play and I was the color commentator. I got involved with them in a strange way. An earlier version of the game had all the current ballparks, a few classics like Ebbets Field and for some reason also had the Modesto Stadium and Greer Stadium, home of the Nashville Sounds, the team I worked for. I contacted them about using the stadium and they told me they modeled Greer Stadium as a present to the games producer who was a TN native. I then started getting calls from them about how to rate certain Pirates prospects because the Pirates were so awful it was a constant glow up and down of players and they didn’t know anything about anybody as half of them didn’t even qualify for the Baseball America Prospects book or Baseball Prospectus. So I helped them with what certain pitchers threw, etc. Then in 2002 they asked if I wanted to audition as the color commentator as they were moving on from Ray Fosse. I auditioned, got the job and we recorded my parts over three days. They actually scheduled it while I was in Sacramento doing a four game series. I would do the game, hop in the car after I was off the air, head to Frisco and stay in a hotel. Go in the studio from 7-3 then hop in the car, drive to Sacramento and do the game. I can tell you that at the time there were four In n Out Burgers on the highway between SF and SAC and I hit all of them. The next year they had me back to record lines for the 2004 version, but they ran out of budget to code them in. 3Do went broke the next year.
