As the final games of spring training loomed, the Portland front office decided it was time to hire someone to direct the ship that is the 2055 Lumberjacks squad. The organization went all off-season and most of spring training without a manager. According to team sources, an extensive interviewing process was underway, one that finally led with a decision. The man chosen to guide this team to the Landis is: Manol Didier!?

Who!?

Didier is a little know manager who hasn't been in the BBA since 2048. The last time he was seen in the BBA was with Phoenix that year when he was wrapping up his 3rd and final season as the Talons bench coach. Prior to that, he spent 6 seasons in Triple-A with Richmond where he led the Panthers of the Charlotte organization to four 1st place finishes in 6 seasons.

So why Didier?

"He was hungry and anxious to get back in the league" commented team assistant general manager Kate Fiscus. "He left back in 2048 after being with Phoenix, who Manol said, left a bad taste in his mouth. He was burnt out of coaching and wanted out of the league. But after spending some time reflecting on things, he decided he wanted back in. And was all the more willing to do this a year at a time, which is what we agreed to."

Didier will manage Portland in 2055 for $1,650,000 for just the 1 year contract.

"We stick with one year deals here" concluded Fiscus. "It keeps potential free agents from clashing with the manager that way. If we keep the clashing down, it makes it way easier on me. When we have clashes but want a free agent, I have to do a little extra to convince players to sign with us."

With that said, the hiring of Didier appears to already have had consequences. Aside from the team going a dreadful 3-7 over its last 10 games this spring, one sought after free agent appears to have backed out of coming to Portland over the hiring of Didier.
