In this edition of Flight Log, we take a look at the most recent week of games.

This week, the Flyers played 6 games against teams ahead of them in the Atlantic League and Wildcard standings. They played 4 games at home against the New Orleans Crawdads and 2 in Montreal against the Blazers.

Game 1 against New Orleans was highlighted by Career save number 300 by Alejandro Chavez. He earned that save after a fantastic start by recently acquired, former and then current teammate Juan Marroquin, who allowed 2 hits and 4 walks in 7 shutout innings. Rookie OF/DH Jorge Trujillo went 3-4 in his big league debut. His first hit came on the 2nd pitch he saw in his first at bat in the bottom of the 2nd. The Flyers won 3-0.

Game 2 featured a very nice start by Little Johnny Rasmussen who earned his 14th win of the season. Victor Frazier crushed a 3 run home run and Chávez earned another save as Charlotte won the game 6-2.

The Crawdads jumped all over Mauro Mendoza for 4 runs in the 1st inning of game 3. The Flyers could not work their way back and New Orleans ended up with a 5-2 win.

Game 4 of the series started similarly to game 3. The Crawdads got an early 4-0 lead against Buwono Mainaky. Home runs by Tadataka Yoshikawa and Banger Dan helped the offense storm back, and the Flyers won 11-7.

Game 1 against Montreal started well, with Charlotte leading 2-1 after the top of the 6th. A 4 run bottom of the 6th changed things and the Blazers came away with a 6-2 win.

The final game of the week was a pitching duel between Juan Marroquin and Montreal’s Todd Schroeder. The game was tied at 1 after 6 and the bullpens took over. The Blazers broke through with a 2nd run in the 7th and held on for a 2-1 victory.
