1. Carl Vincent is injured. Vincent left his first Spring Training start with a back injury. He is expected to miss the next 8 weeks, meaning that he won’t be available until some time in May. There are rumors that the team is looking to add another starting pitcher through free agency.
2. The rumors about going after a new pitcher are accompanied by rumors that the team will soon announce that Stephen Best has been released. If true, then Best made $1 million dollars per start during his time with the Flyers, as he made 18 starts prior to his injury after signing for 3 years and $18 million.
3. Manny Toledo still looks good at the plate, but he seems to have lost a step in the field. There are rumors that Toledo is struggling so much at first base this Spring that he will become the full time designated hitter. It sounds like the new first baseman will be Tadataka Yoshikawa.
