In this edition of Flight Log, a look at the most recent week of games.

The Flyers climbed back to .500 after a solid week of games despite allowing opposing players to accomplish impressive feats.

The week started with a three game series in Charlotte against Atlantic City.

Game 1 was wild. John Rasmussen III had his worst outing of the season, allowing 8 runs in only 2 innings of work. He gave up a 3 run home run to Jared Dixon in the 1st. In the bottom of the inning, Victor Frazier helped put the Flyers on top, driving in 2 of the 4 runs the team scored in the frame. However, the lead was short lived, as Rasmussen gave up 2 more home runs in the 2nd, a 2 run shot to Lee Hogan and another 2 run bomb to Will Patterson. Charlotte scored 2 in the 3rd to pull back within 2 at 8-6. Then, in the 4th inning, Patterson hit his 2nd homer of the game to extend the lead to 3. The Flyers scored in the 5th and got another in the 7th on a Frazier home run to make it a 9-8 game. Will Patterson put the game away in the 8th when he hit his 3rd home run of the game, a 2 run shot that ended the scoring for both teams. Atlantic City pulled off the 11-8 win.

Game 2 featured the major league debut of former Calgary 2nd round pick Patrick Rasmussen. The 32 year old rookie got the win despite allowing a 3 run home run to Will Patterson. He was aided by a 3 run bomb hit by his teammate Chris McFadden as the Flyers won 11-5.

Charlotte secured the series win in a 2-1 game that took 11 innings. Hollis O’Hara hit his 2nd home run of the year and Victor Frazier drove in the winning run with a walk-off RBI single.

Despite a strong start by Buwono Mainaky, the Flyers were unable to pick up a win in the series opener against Montreal. The offense never got any momentum and only scored 1 run as the Blazers won 4-1.

The offense was much better in the second game. Tom Bates and Chris McFadden each homered as the Flyers scored 8 runs. Leon Diaz made two relief appearances last September. On Wednesday, he made his first start at the BBA level. He allowed 3 runs in 6 innings to earn the win. Charlotte picked up the victory 8-4.

The 3rd game of the series featured a milestone hit by Montreal’s Aarnoud Budding. His 1st inning single was the 2000th hit of his career. He had 3 more hits in the game, including an RBI single in the Blazers’ 3 run 3rd. After that point, the Flyers took control of the game. Charlotte scored 11 runs on 16 hits, including a 2 hit, 4 RBI performance by Manny Toledo, bringing his RBI total on the season to 106. Charlotte won the game 11-3.

After winning 4 of 6 games this week, the Flyers have a record of 72-72. They kept themselves mathematically in the playoff hunt, as they are currently 3 games out of the final wild card spot with 18 games to play.
