59.02 Free Agents come to London

The London Monarchs had a strong week in Free Agency and was able to fill a few holes heading into next season. Headlining the signings was the acquisition of Patrick Faber. Catching was an area we wanted to target this offseason as we didn't get much production out of that position last year GM Spencer said, we have significantly upgraded behind the plate this year. Faber is considered the top C in the GBC according to the OSA position rankings. He had spent the past 4 seasons in Jerusalem with the Hebrew Hammers. He hit .243 with 15 HR and 57 RBI last season. The 38 year old was brought in on a 1 year contract at 3.8 million.

The Monarchs also brought in some SP help with the acquisition of Luca Maundrell who comes from the BBA and the Rocky Mountain Oysters organization. Last year he spent half a season in AAA and went 6-4 with a 4.06. We believe Luca can crack this rotation this year and we wanted to bring him in and compete in the back end of our roation. The 3rd signing this week was reliever Carlos Rocha who will join the Moarchs pen this season. He spent last year with the Sydney organization and had 33 saves out of the pen. We might be moving some of our pen guys to the rotation this season so we are definitely looking for bullpen help and we continue to look for additional arms. We are not done yet we want to continue to add to the club and we believe this was a positive week for us this offseason.
