Chew's "eponymous tobacco product" FTW! I loved this whole piece.
Hopefully he becomes Big League Chew.

Re: Analysis of the First Round of the 2059 BBA Amateur Draft

loved this aaron, and love draft analysis. I haven't delved enough but does league also do draft analysis like 5 years later or anything? Only thing missing was the Bangles playing in the background....thanks for this Btw if you like the Bengals I much prefer their cover of “Hazy Shade of Winter” t...

Re: Analysis of the First Round of the 2059 BBA Amateur Draft

Thanks for doing this. If I read it right, I think you like the Nystrom pick. I try not to take too much of a stance on any pick, but if you read between the lines on some of these you can tell my preference. I honestly don’t know what I think about Nystrom other than that he probably wouldn’t make...

Re: Analysis of the First Round of the 2059 BBA Amateur Draft

31. C Jose Hernandez (Twin Cities): Hernandez is one of those types of players where you’re thrilled when it works out, a catcher with a big power bat and potentially an excellent batting eye, but who might never make any kind of consistent contact and who didn’t hit above .241 in college. Of cours...

Re: Analysis of the First Round of the 2059 BBA Amateur Draft

While still adjusting to the new ratings, I saw he was a 14/7/5 pre-25. I figured he would of gone higher with those ratings so I liked the value. I too can read hieroglyphics: my guy was a 6/10/8 guy with a 70 potential before the switch. No idea if any of that persists though. 5 control in Egypt ...

Re: Analysis of the First Round of the 2059 BBA Amateur Draft

Goater could probably hit better than half my team right now, but obviously that defense behind the plate needs to improve but if he can get a bump there, he’ll hopefully be ready in time for Hinkle’s first team option to come up (assuming he’s not traded before then). My whole team has five home r...

Aww nuts. Didn't notice Herrera's injury history in my haste.
It's why I didn't draft him. No other reason.

Analysis of the First Round of the 2059 BBA Amateur Draft

This article will analyze this year's amateur draft. The analysis includes the S1. Disclaimer: As always, opinions and analysis are mine and mine alone and do not reflect any future, present or past knowledge of anything at all. I should add that I know a little less this year than I have known in ...

Re: Announcement Re: IFA

So your argument is first round, not second round picks. That’s a reasonable point of view if the players are that imbalancing and something reasonable minds can argue. But something should be done for the sake of competitive balance. The ability to sign additional IFAs should be absolutely out the...

Re: Announcement Re: IFA

The correct solution here is an eye for an eye - in this case that would be draft picks. I'd recommend a second round pick for every IFA signed, which is the sort of middle ground that makes sense since they're gathering competition-free prospects illicitly. It also wouldn't require rewinding the g...

Re: 2059 BBA Compensation List

So as the author of this rule and the guy who used to enforce it, no, it’s not a difficult rule. The two-year averages are made even easier if you eliminate everyone who didn't make the threshold LAST year, as the rule reads. You’d have to do that anyway under any system. The rule is meant to elimin...

Re: Announcement Re: IFA

There are no bad guys here. No good guys either. But I agree that this is the wrong solution. IFA sim is January 1, and not before. A few GMs did the wrong thing, wittingly or unwittingly, and they shouldn't be rewarded. I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. The correct solution here is...
